How to choose the right milling cutter ?

   What principles should be followed when choosing milling cutter for machining? What do you know?

1、Is the Milling cutter  for cnc machining center, or ordinary milling machine?

If it is used on the CNC machine center, it should choose the cemented carbide. If it is used on the ordinary milling machine, it should be the white steel.

2、the materials and hardness of the milling cutter processing

The carbide milling cutter is hot and hard, wear resistant, fragile. The carbide is made of powder metallurgy method of material, hardness up to 90HRA or so, thermal properties up to 900-1000 degrees or so

• The hardness of white steel milling cutter is softer than that of carbide milling cutter.

High speed steel bit is cheap, good toughness, but not high strength, and wear resistance, thermal hardness is relatively poor.,Thermal hardness of the high speed steel milling cutter is 600 degresss, the HRC is 65. When you choose the white steel , it is easy to burn the bits without cooling.

• So, you can choose the white steel on the ordinary milling machine. And the carbide milling cutter is for CNC machining center.
